Steelers Playoff Hopes Likely Shot After Falling to Colts

The Steelers chances at a playoff bid are likely gone as the team fell 30-13 to the Indianapolis Colts. The loss drops the team to 7-7 on the year and behind the Bills, Texans, and Colts for the AFC’s last playoff spot. With the division title no longer an option, the wild card is the only path to the playoffs.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett continued to be sidelined as he’s recovering from a high-ankle sprain, and Mitch Trubisky filled in his absence. The offense had another tough week, as Trubisky struggled – throwing two interceptions to just one touchdown. And even as the team jumped out to a 13-0 lead early in the second quarter, the rest of the game was a different story.

The offense couldn’t get anything going and the defense gave up 30 unanswered points. The defense allowed 372 yards of offense and forced no turnovers, compared to the 216 yards of offense and three turnovers that the Steelers offense put up.

With just three regular season games remaining, the Steelers would need to win out to give themselves an outside chance at the playoffs. But the path will be tough with their three games coming at home against the 8-6 Bengals, on the road against the 7-7 Seahawks, and on the road against the AFC leading 11-3 Ravens.
