Road to Relief: Budget-Friendly Fuel Sets the Tone for the New Year


As 2024 begins, drivers across Pennsylvania are ringing in the new year with affordable gas. The statewide average has crept down to $3.39 per gallon, showcasing an 18-cent decline from last month and a 24-cent reduction over the past year.

Here in Western Pennsylvania, pump prices are trending downward as well. At $3.44, each gallon of gas in the Greater Pittsburgh area is 17 cents cheaper than last month and 26 cents cheaper than last year.

In the northern part of the region, Mercer residents are currently paying $3.35 per gallon, reflecting a decrease of 26 cents from last month and 40 cents from last year. Meanwhile, in Erie, the cost of gas has dropped 23 cents in the past month and 42 cents in the past year, settling at its current rate of $3.30 per gallon.
