Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.2 percent in August, according to state data released on Friday.

The commonwealth’s August 2022 unemployment rate is 1.9 percentage points below its August 2021 unemployment rate, according to the state Department of Labor and Industry.

Nationally, the unemployment rate was up two-tenths of a percentage point over the month to 3.7 percent.

In Pennsylvania, non-farm jobs were up 6,700 over the month to 5,984,400 in August.

The department said the state has recovered approximately 90 percent of jobs lost in the first two months of the pandemic.
