As June begins, the national average for a gallon of gasoline has decreased, driven by tepid demand and a lower oil price. As of June 2, the average cost per gallon in the United States is $3.54, marking a 13-cent drop from one month ago.

Pump prices across Pennsylvania have also edged lower in recent weeks. At an average of $3.73 statewide, each gallon is eight cents cheaper than last month.

However, fuel costs in the northwestern region of the Commonwealth have remained largely stagnant. In both Erie and Mercer County, a gallon of gas is priced at $3.85, reflecting a two-cent decrease from a week ago in both areas. For Erie, that price is one cent lower than last month, while for Mercer County, it remains unchanged from last month.
